Triabunna school awarded for healthy approach

05 Dec, 2011 01:00 AM
TRIABUNNA District High School has been rewarded for its ongoing commitment to the well-being of its students.

Last month, Triabunna was named the Medibank Active Tasmania Awards winner for playing "a valuable role in developing and maintaining healthy communities".

The school's after-school Living and Learning on the Coast program won the Schools Award and the $8000 prize ahead of 49 other schools.

Triabunna was nominated for its outstanding approach, providing opportunities for its students to participate in activities that reflect its coastal environment.

Principal Annette Parker said it is a wonderful achievement by all the staff, students and community.

"The entire staff have put a lot of time and effort over the last few years in making sure that we are giving our kids that live in this area every opportunity to get out and be active participants in the beautiful coastal environment in which they live," Mrs Parker said.
